About Me

I am a white settler Canadian living on Treaty 4 land. I am currently in my third year of elementary education at the University of Regina. I grew up in Radville Saskatchewan and finished my high school years in Weyburn while I was given the opportunity to play hockey.

Currently, I have to opportunity to taking part in a pre-internship field placement and I am enjoying learning while getting more comfortable with the classroom. Working with children has always been a focus of mine, working with young children through coaching, camp counsellor as well as being a nanny abroad. Having this opportunity to work with children I realized that I love working and helping children. As well as teaching, I hope to be able to continue to coach. I have coached volleyball and hockey and have participated in school sports such as volleyball, track and field, and badminton. It is important to me to give all students the opportunity to be active.

I first realized I wanted to be a teacher when I was about eight. My mom is a teacher so I would help her get her classroom ready and help her get materials ready for projects. Having a parent as a teacher allowed me to see all the aspects of teaching, the good, the bad, the stressful, and the rewarding moments. I know that teaching is a profession that I could be successful in.

To me education is extremely important, I view it as an opportunity to connect with children and be their safe environment and to be a safe adult that they can come to at any time. I want to teach because I have a passion for working with youth and helping them be as successful as possible. I believe that it is important to put the students first and make sure that all of the lessons are geared towards the best interest for the students.

I believe that it is important for all children to be given access to a good education, regardless of their location, status, grades, or ability. I cannot wait until I am given the opportunity to make my dreams a reality and become a teacher.
